In the late 1990's, New Concepts opened its Achievement Center
with the goal to provide unique day program services, including
vocational skills training and preparation for employment opportunities,
gainful employment projects on an on-going basis, daily living skills
training, day activities, recreation, and behavioral services. These services
are provided to approximately 45 individuals.
Our Day Program's behavioral department uses a collaborative
process to identify needs and strategies to help individuals
with behavioral issues and/or to build on behavioral
strengths. Whenever possible, individual's are able
to practice appropriate behavior in real situations
through community outings.
The Achievement Center’s interior includes 4
work areas; individuals are placed in particular areas
based on skill level. Each work area has 3 day program
counselors respectively and 1 senior counselor. The
counselors provide vocational and social skills training,
group activities (which include outings), and motivational
behavioral supports. Senior Counselors oversee the
operations in their respective work area.
